My 5 cents D.J. Caruso is hot, and so far in his short career he has worked with quality casts that have included Angelina, Pacino, McConaughey, Billy Bob, Michelle Monaghan and Shia Labeouf so expect a solid cast with this one too. His recent work with Shia has been with DreamWorks this is with New Line, and it seems his schedule is free.
If December date is correct it would have to be fast tracked, think other recent pre xmas flicks – Bedtime Stories, National Treasure 2 and The Golden Compass. Better comparisons may be Eragon, Stardust, Pirates of the Caribbean and Chronicles of Narnia and to even go further back The Princess Bride and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. The title may be a concern, not too many kiddie pics have “killer” in their titles – shark tale had to remove the slayer, this one may be harder to change as it is more well known. In turn, the film could be more darker than the original and therefore the title's fine. Surprisingly enough its been known as Jerry the Giant Killer as well. IMDB has another Jack project for 2011 with little info on it.
Recommendation Rarely do mid to high IPO stocks fall on their first day regardless of status or hype. Current trend has seen the stock fall the next day and through the week rather then rise steeply and be very volatile like in the past. The last two previous Mondays IPO's were ASOCT which gained around $2-3 before falling in the week and now sits solid around it's IPO price. Whereas the previous UJAGB had a slight gain of around $2 only to lose close to a third of its price during the week despite JANIS coming off MARLY.
Larger ports should feel safe longing while smaller ones may dip in and out till some casting news or a production start in announced.
