About Adapted from Bob Glaudini’s Off-Broadway play, JACGB is about a Rastafarian stoner NYC limo driver Jack (Hoffman), who embarks on a number of activities to increase his skill set so he can attract a girlfriend, eventually courting Connie (Ryan) who is also a stoner. The two bond over cooking, love of drugs and swimming lessons that leads to an unconvential but unique relationship between two misfits.

My 5 cents You never know what to expect when established Actors take the directors chair for the first time, especially when they are also playing the lead. Not only is he stepping into the unknown as a director but the film itself is a romantic comedy, also a first for Hoffman which doesn't harness much confidence one would think. However Hoffman won't be in the dark with regards to the material as he opened and starred in the stage production of the film in 2007, and has worked alongside acclaimed directors such as the Coen brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson and the late Anthony Minghella. He has also just finished the comedy The Boat that Rocked, another theatrical adaptation. His love interest in the film, Amy Ryan has shown she can play the hopeless romantic with her stint with The Offices Michael Scott, plus this will be the third film in four years the two have appeared in so there should be chemistry. Another added bonus is that both John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega will reprise their roles from the stage. John Ortiz will be a more familiar name in the coming months as he appears in both The Fast and Furious and Public Enemies. Comparisons? I guess any Woody Allen movie for the couple in NY theme, Rent for the Broadway thing and Yes Man for the try new things aspect.

Recommendation These priced IPOs are always tricky, the film screams indie but the fact that it looks like its in the works and with Hoffman available now its tempting. The players tend to buy these and forget them, recent ipo's in same price range - CHLOE, EMDMP are hovering around ipo price while the previous weeks ARIZO, KSHMR, FTUNA have dropped a couple dollars. None have risen remarkably which means JACGB shouldn't either, SHORT
